History

The history of H & R Gray

H & R Gray started in 1947 by Henry Gray and his son Robert. The Company began as a farming enterprise north of Stirling, and like on many farms a rigid lorry was purchased to take stock to and from market, deliver crops or collect fodder.

Robert’s son Robin showed a keen interest in trucks and diversified into general haulage. In 1990 a second rigid was purchased and from there on the business expanded rapidly.

H & R Gray Haulage was incorporated in 1998 and moved to more suitable premises at Throsk, Stirling in January 2001. The fleet changed to 100% tractor units complete with a diverse range of trailers to service the needs of the company's growing customer base.

The new premises allowed for the business to expand its services to offer commercial vehicle maintenance and repair to local hauliers and operators. With fleet road safety high on the company’s agenda the introduction of an on-site ATF lane was later welcomed in 2014.

In 2015 H&R Gray became a member of the Palletline network offering a large-scale overnight pallet delivery service. Today, a purpose built 24,000 sq ft warehouse efficiently manages the distribution of over 2000 pallets per week.

The last decade has seen many additions to the fleet including timber lorries, bulkers, low loaders, and many other specialized vehicle and trailer combinations.

The Company is still very closely linked to its farming roots and continues to be involved in the haulage of agricultural goods on and off the farm, as well as being a Scottish supplier of Calcifert Granulated Lime.
